Ally Kerr

Ally Kerr is a singer-songwriter and composer from Glasgow, Scotland, born in 2000. His first release, Midst of the Storm, came as a 7-inch vinyl EP on the Spanish label Elefant Records. His debut album Calling Out To You followed on Japanese label Quince Records in 2004 and UK label Neon Tetra Records in 2005, with producers including Duglas T. Stewart (BMX Bandits), Duncan Cameron (Riverside Studios), and David Scott (The Pearlfishers).

Kerr's breakthrough moment came when "The Sore Feet Song" was selected as the theme for the Japanese animated series Mushishi, released as a CD single in Japan through Marvelous Entertainment. The anime subsequently aired globally and was released on DVD across America, Australia, and the UK, and made available on Netflix, extending Kerr's reach far beyond the UK.

His second album, Off The Radar, came in 2008 on Much Obliged Records, Universal Records (Philippines), and Japanese labels Ultra-Vybe and Star Sign, plus Triangle Music in South Korea. The third album, Viva Melodia, was recorded with Marcus Mackay and produced by Biff Smith of The Starlets and A New International, released on Much Obliged Records in 2011. His fourth album, Upgrade Me, arrived in January 2019, also produced by Biff Smith; its title track was featured on Netflix Japan's Terrace House Tokyo in December 2019. A cinematic instrumental album called Soundtracks was released in November 2020.

In 2015, Kerr embarked on a headlining ten-city China tour, following a 2013 trip to play at festivals there, and mounted a second headline China tour in May 2019. His fifth album, True Nature, a self-produced singer-songwriter record blending acoustic and electric guitars, piano, strings, synths, and soundscapes, was released on 25 April 2025 via Much Obliged Records (Sony/The Orchard globally), with licensing to Lilystars Records in Southeast Asia and Vibez in China. To support the release, he played shows across the Philippines, Japan, Spain, and China in 2025.
