Brent Hodge

Brent Hodge is a Canadian documentary filmmaker and entrepreneur born July 9, 1985. He has built a career documenting overlooked communities and cultural figures through long-form narrative cinema.

Hodge directed I Am Chris Farley in 2015 with Derik Murray of Network Entertainment, assembling interviews with comedians and actors who worked with Farley during his career. The film was long-listed for an Academy Award. In 2014, he released A Brony Tale, which follows musician and voice actress Ashleigh Ball into the world of adult My Little Pony fans ("bronies") at the 2012 BronyCon. The documentary won a Leo Award in 2015 and earned Shorty Award nominations in 2014 and 2015.

The Pistol Shrimps (2016), co-produced with Warrior Poets and Morgan Spurlock as executive producer, profiles an LA female basketball team including actress Aubrey Plaza and Drunk History creator Maria Blasucci. It won the Founders Award at Michael Moore's Traverse City Film Festival in July 2016 and aired on NBC's Seeso. Hodge also directed Winning America, What Happens Next?, The Beetle Roadtrip Sessions (which won a Canadian Screen Award in 2014), Freaks and Geeks: The Documentary, Chris Farley: Anything for a Laugh, Who Let the Dogs Out, and Pharma Bro.

A Cancer born in 1985, Hodge channels introspective curiosity into profiles of subcultures and personalities.
