Born 11 July 1996, he entered municipal politics in Teplice at age 18, becoming the country's youngest municipal councillor. In the 2017 parliamentary election, he was elected at 21, making him the lower house's youngest member and its first Black deputy, of Ethiopian descent.
Feri became known as a vocal supporter of the Me Too movement while in office. In 2021, however, roughly 15 women accused him of sexual abuse and rape between 2015 and 2020, leading to his resignation from politics. On 2 November 2023, he was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison for rapes in 2016 and 2018; one victim in 2016 was a minor. The court also found he had attempted rape within the Parliament building. His appeal was dismissed by Prague's Municipal Court on 22 April 2024.
Feri's case prompted Czech lawmakers to expand the legal definition of rape in the Criminal Code to explicitly cover rape paralysis, a change media outlets dubbed "Lex Feri". As a male politician of Czech citizenship, Feri represents a cautionary arc within democratic institutions—rapid rise to prominence followed by criminal conviction and legal reform tied to his actions.
