Katya Adaui is a Peruvian writer born 14 February 1977 in Lima. She studied journalism at Bausate y Mesa before pursuing creative writing at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero in Buenos Aires. Her published books include the short story collections Un nombre para tu isla (Páginas de Espuma, 2025), Geografía de la oscuridad (Páginas de Espuma, 2021), and Aquí hay icebergs (Penguin Random House, 2017), as well as novels Quiénes somos ahora (2023) and Nunca sabré lo que entiendo (Planeta, 2014). She has also written children's books including Patichueca and Muy Muy en Bora Bora, both published by Beascoa. In 2023, she won the National Literature Prize of Peru in the short story category for Geografía de la oscuridad, and her children's work received the White Ravens Award and Cuatrogatos Foundation Award, plus selection in the Bologna Children's Book Fair's Braw Amazing Bookshelf. Her story collection Aquí hay icebergs was translated to English by Rosalind Harvey for Charco Press. She currently teaches the writing workshop of the Arts of Writing career at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes in Buenos Aires. As an Aquarius, her intellectual rigor shapes both her fiction and pedagogy.
