Mark Gill is an English screenwriter and film director born in 2000 from Stretford in Manchester. He graduated from University of Central Lancashire in 2007. Gill's breakthrough came with The Voorman Problem, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film in 2014 and a BAFTA nomination for Best Short Film in 2013. He has won a Royal Television Society Award among other honours. His debut feature, England Is Mine, a Morrissey biopic, premiered at the closing gala of the Edinburgh Film Festival on 2 July 2017 before a UK wide release in August 2017. His second feature, Ravens—a darkly surreal love story inspired by the life of photographer Masahisa Fukase and his wife Yoko—premiered at the 2024 Austin Film Festival in October and stars Golden Globe-winning actor Tadanobu Asano. Ravens won the Marquee Film Audience Award at Austin.
