Mercedes Moné is an American professional wrestler born in 1992 who rose to prominence as Sasha Banks in WWE from 2012 to 2022. Mercedes Justine Kaestner Varnado began her wrestling career in 2010 on the independent circuit before signing with WWE in 2012 under the ring name Sasha Banks. She made history with her 30-minute iron woman match against Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Respect in October 2015—the first women's match to headline an NXT TakeOver and the longest women's match in WWE history at the time. Named "Match of the Year" by Pro Wrestling Illustrated and "Woman of the Year," Varnado's early dominance set the stage for her main-roster success.
On the main roster, she held the WWE Raw Women's Championship five times and made further history in 2016 when she and Charlotte Flair became the first women to headline a WWE pay-per-view event and compete in a Hell in a Cell match. In 2019, she won the inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Championship with Bayley, and in 2020 became a WWE Women's Grand Slam Champion after winning the SmackDown Women's Championship. At WrestleMania 37 – Night 1, she and Bianca Belair became the first two African Americans to headline WWE's flagship event. Sports Illustrated named her "Wrestler of the Year" in 2020.
After leaving WWE in 2022, Varnado signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and debuted at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January 2023 as Mercedes Moné, winning the IWGP Women's Championship. She joined AEW in 2024 and won the TBS Championship in her in-ring debut, holding it for a record 584 days. By 2025, she had become the most simultaneously-decorated wrestler of all time, holding 13 belts at once and ranking No. 1 in PWI Women's 250.
