Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam's real name is Robert Szatkowski, and he was born on December 18, 1970. As a professional wrestler, he earned the ring name RVD and became known worldwide for his unique blend of kicks, acrobatic movements, and flexibility that set him apart in the sport.

Van Dam gained mainstream popularity during his tenure in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in the latter half of the 1990s. Managed by Bill Alfonso, he engaged in high-profile feuds with Jerry Lynn and Sabu, and teamed with Sabu to win the ECW World Tag Team Championship twice. On April 4, 1998, Van Dam defeated Bam Bam Bigelow to claim the ECW Television Championship, which he held for 700 days until an injury forced him to vacate it on March 4, 2000.

When ECW closed in 2001, Van Dam signed with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) and participated in the Invasion storyline alongside other WCW and ECW wrestlers. Over his WWE run, he won the Hardcore Championship, Intercontinental Championship, European Championship, Tag Team Championship, and World Tag Team Championship. At WrestleMania 22, Van Dam won the Money in the Bank ladder match and went on to defeat John Cena for the WWE Championship at One Night Stand. Two days later, Paul Heyman awarded him the reactivated ECW World Heavyweight Championship, making Van Dam the only wrestler to hold both titles simultaneously.

After leaving WWE in 2007, Van Dam worked the independent circuit until signing with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in 2010. He defeated AJ Styles to win the TNA World Championship and later challenged for the AAA Latin American Championship at Triplemania XIX. Between ECW, WWE, and TNA, Van Dam won 21 total championships, including three world titles, and is one of only two wrestlers (alongside Bobby Lashley) to have held world championships in all three promotions.

Van Dam was ranked the number one pro wrestler in the world by Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 2002 and was voted "Most Popular Wrestler" by the magazine's readers in 2001 and 2002. WWE inducted him into the Hall of Fame in 2021, followed by his induction into the Hardcore Hall of Fame in 2022. As a male professional wrestler, Van Dam continues his legacy, currently signed to WWE under a Legends contract.
