Robert Kirkman became the architect of modern zombie television by building The Walking Dead into a cultural phenomenon. Born November 30, 1978, in the US, he is an American comic book writer, screenwriter, and producer. His breakthrough came through Image Comics, where he created The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Invincible, Tech Jacket, Outcast, Oblivion Song, and Fire Power—a roster that redefined horror and superhero comics for the 2000s onward. He also wrote Marvel series including Ultimate X-Men, Irredeemable Ant-Man, and Marvel Zombies, and collaborated with Image co-founder Todd McFarlane on Haunt.
In 2010, Kirkman co-founded Skybound Entertainment to develop his intellectual property across comics, television, and film. The company manages The Walking Dead and Invincible licenses and launched Skybound Games in 2018 to produce video games. Beyond writing, he created and produced the TV adaptations Outcast and Invincible, penned episodes for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, and executive-produced Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics and the Korean drama Five Year. He is currently COO of Image Comics and the only partner serving in that role who was not an original co-founder.
