Oluwasegun Romeo Oriogun is a Nigerian poet and essayist whose 2022 Nigeria Prize for Literature win marked a watershed moment: he became the first openly queer writer to receive the award. Born January 1, 2000, in Nigeria, Oriogun has built a presence on the international poetry circuit through collections including Sacrament of Bodies (2020) and The Gathering of Bastards (2023), alongside three chapbooks.
