Sandy

Sandy Leah Lima, known mononymously as Sandy, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and actress born 28 January 1983 in Campinas. She formed the vocal duo Sandy & Junior with her brother Junior Lima in 1989, when she was just six years old, launching a partnership that would define her childhood and early adult career. The siblings rose to fame in the early 1990s as child stars and peaked during their teenage years; their albums Era Uma Vez... Ao Vivo (1998), As Quatro Estações (1999), Quatro Estações: O Show (2000), and Sandy & Junior (2001) each sold over a million units, with the latter two ranking among Brazil's best-selling albums of all time. The duo were credited with spearheading a wave of teen pop artists in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with media outlets dubbing Sandy the Brazilian "Princess of Pop".

Sandy & Junior disbanded in December 2007 and released a final MTV Unplugged album that September. She then spent two years developing her solo career while pursuing personal goals; in 2008 she married musician Lucas Lima and earned a degree in languages and literature from Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas. Her debut solo album, Manuscrito (2010), led with the single "Pés Cansados" and earned platinum certification from Pro-Música Brasil. A live recording of her debut tour, Manuscrito Ao Vivo, followed in November 2011. Her second studio album, Sim (2013), spawned three singles and reached number nine on Brazilian charts, while her 2016 live album Meu Canto, preceded by "Me Espera", topped the PMB DVD chart. In 2018 she released the collaborative studio project Nós, Voz, Eles.

As an actress, Sandy starred in the TV series Sandy & Junior (1999–2002) and As Brasileiras (2012), the telenovela Estrela-Guia (2001), and films Acquária (2003) and Quando Eu Era Vivo (2014). She also served as a judge on two seasons of Superstar, a reality competition series. Over her career, Sandy has sold over 20 million albums and won six Multishow Brazilian Music Awards, three Melhores do Ano (Rede Globo) awards, and earned one Latin Grammy nomination. Forbes Brasil named her among the 100 most influential Brazilian personalities in 2013.
