Biography
Shad Javier Gaspard was an American professional wrestler, actor, and stunt performer. Born January 13, 1981, he signed with WWE in 2003 and was assigned to their developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he and JTG formed Cryme Tyme and won two OVW Southern Tag Team Championships. The group was promoted to WWE's main roster in 2006, though both wrestlers were released the following year; Cryme Tyme returned in 2008, but Gaspard was released again in 2010.
After leaving WWE, Gaspard shifted toward acting and stunt work. His film and television roles included Think Like a Man Too, Get Hard, The Game, and From Dusk till Dawn: The Series. He co-created the 2011 graphic novel Assassin & Son and provided motion capture for video games, most notably as the protagonist Kratos in the 2018 God of War. As a Capricorn with life path 6, Gaspard embodied traits of loyalty and service, both in his wrestling career and his final act of heroism.
On May 17, 2020, Gaspard drowned while attempting to save his son from a rip current off the coast of California. He was posthumously awarded the Warrior Award at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2022, recognizing his contributions to professional wrestling and his tragic sacrifice.
