SJ Sindu is a genderqueer Sri Lankan American novelist and short story writer. Born November 27, 1987, she holds degrees from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Florida State University, where she earned a PhD in Creative Writing. Her debut novel *Marriage of a Thousand Lies* arrived in 2017 from Soho Press, winning the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction and American Library Association Stonewall Honor recognition. *Blue-Skinned Gods* followed in November 2021, also published by Soho Press. Beyond novels, Sindu released the chapbook *Dominant Genes* in February 2022 after winning the 2020 Black River Chapbook Competition, and the middle-grade fantasy graphic novel *Shakti* in 2023 via HarperCollins. Her short fiction and essays have appeared in *Brevity*, *The Los Angeles Review of Books*, *PRISM International*, and other journals. She was a 2013 Lambda Literary Fellow and currently teaches Creative Writing at Virginia Commonwealth University.
