Spencer Susser is an American filmmaker and film editor born in 1977. Originally from California, he became the only American member of the Australian filmmaking collective Blue-Tongue Films. His directorial work spans shorts and features. The short film I Love Sarah Jane, co-written with David Michôd and starring Mia Wasikowska, premiered at major festivals—winning Best Narrative Short at the 2008 Nashville Film Festival, the Reel Frontier Merit Award at Arizona International, and the Canal+ Award at Clermont-Ferrand. In 2011, a feature-length expansion was in development. His feature debut Hesher starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natalie Portman, premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, and saw theatrical release in May 2011. Susser has also worked in music video direction, co-directing Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" with Kyle Newman.
