Taís Araújo is a Brazilian actress, TV host, and model born November 25, 1978. She broke ground as the first Black woman to star in a prime-time Globo telenovela when she played Helena in *Viver a Vida* in 2009, created by Manoel Carlos. Before that, her first prominent television role came in 1996 as the protagonist of *Xica da Silva* on Rede Manchete, followed by Preta in *Da Cor do Pecado* (2004) and Ellen in *Cobras & Lagartos* (2006). In 2012, she took on a fourth lead role as Maria da Penha in *Cheias de Charme*, and later starred opposite Lázaro Ramos in the musical comedy *Mister Brau* in 2015.
