Win McCormack (Winthrop Laflin McCormack) is a publisher, editor, and political activist from Oregon. As editor-in-chief of Tin House magazine and Tin House Books, he shaped independent literary publishing in the Pacific Northwest. McCormack co-founded Mother Jones magazine and purchased The New Republic in February 2016, taking control of one of American political journalism's longest-running mastheads.
His early journalism career focused on investigative reporting—his coverage of the Rajneeshee movement received a William Allen White Commendation from the University of Kansas and the City and Regional Magazine Association. His writing has appeared in The Nation, Oregon Humanities, Tin House, and The Oregonian.
Beyond publishing, McCormack operates as a political operator: he chaired Oregon's steering committee for Gary Hart's 1984 presidential run, served as chair of Oregon Democrats' President's Council, and sat on the Obama for President Oregon Finance Committee. He co-founded the Los Angeles–based Liberty Hill Foundation and serves on the Board of Overseers for Emerson College and the board of New Perspectives Quarterly.
