Jacob Brent is an American stage actor and choreographer born August 14, 1973. He gained recognition for portraying Magical Mr. Mistoffelees in the 1998 video production of Cats. After graduating from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1991 and earning an MFA from San Diego State University, Brent worked with the ALICE workshop, a musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, and performed in his own showcase at Sadlers Wells Theatre. His directorial work includes a 2008 production of Peter Pan and a 2009 production of Leonard Bernstein's Candide at Children's Musical Theater San Jose. Brent's academic career began in 2016 when he was appointed assistant professor of dance at Shenandoah University, a position he held until 2019. He then served as head of Musical Theatre at James Madison University until 2021, when he became interim Musical Theatre Head at the University of the Arts.
