Goldstein entered the music industry by deejaying in Los Angeles clubs and joining the band Crazy Town in 1999, then pivoting to solo DJ work in 2001. His career exploded after he began dating Nicole Richie in 2003; by 2006, Caesars Palace paid him $1 million annually for weekly performances on the Las Vegas strip, and private bookings reached $10,000+ per event. In 2008, he and drummer Travis Barker formed TRV$DJAM and survived the only-two-survivors South Carolina Learjet 60 crash that killed four others aboard.
