As a director, he staged the first Slovene production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues in 2001 and helmed Desa Muck's Tomorrow I'll start. His original work Stoned Cabaret, co-written with physicist Peter Žiger, was cited by professional critics as the best performance of the Maribor Slovene National Theatre 1997/98 season.
