His Broadway career spans iconic productions: he played Chris Scott in Miss Saigon, Billy Flynn in Chicago, Ubaldo Piangi and understudy roles (Phantom/Raoul/Andre) in The Phantom of the Opera, Marius Pontmercy in Les Misérables, and covered Rodolfo in La Boheme. He appeared on television with Bette Midler in a 1993 adaptation of Gypsy. After stepping back from performing, Lockyer earned dual master's degrees qualifying him to teach in New York City, then returned to act in Barbra Streisand's European touring production Broadway Boys. His international stage work includes 42nd Street across Europe, Les Misérables in China and South Korea, and a self-directed Hawaiian production of Les Misérables.
